L2R ALERT
Pediatric Vaccine ApprovalAges 5 and up can now get protection from COVID-19!
The FDA and CDC have authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use to prevent COVID-19 in children ages 5 to 11.
Children aged 5 to 11 account for almost 40% of all pediatric COVID-19 cases, close to the highest case rate for any age group. Although children are less likely to become seriously ill due to an infection, hospitalization and mortality rates have increased among this population as the highly transmissible delta variant has driven infections in all age groups.
Between August and early October, COVID-19 outbreaks have closed 272 school districts throughout the US, affecting…
These outbreaks and school closings disproportionately impacted children of color.
